How often do you go to the stylist and give a picture of a style you think that would look good on you? You go and get the cut only to figure out that it is not what you thought you were getting. Many times the lack of understanding and two different views, perspectives between the stylist and the client creates an unhappy guest. Sometimes, oft times the guest will say "oh its just what I wanted,Thank You!" They appear to leave happy and a couple days later they either call, or the stylist finds out from someone else that the client was very unhappy. Those of us who look at our industry as a passion and an art become troubled when these types of situations happen. Most Stylist are more then willing to correct (if possible) and make the client happy BUT that is hard to do when the guest tells everyone else but the stylist of their dismay.
So here are some tips to help you have a good experience.
1. If you are going to a new stylist ,give that person a chance and make sure your consultation is clear and your expectations.Oft times it takes a stylist a couple of times to learn your hair and the colics.
Don't be polite to the point that you leave hating your hair! This does nothing for either you or the stylist.
(This is one of my pet peeves-Tell me you don’t like something-I do not get offended and would rather fix it then -then later...satisfying you is all that matters and making sure your experience was a good one!)
2. Take into consideration that most styles on stars and models were done by a professional and there is a good chance that you will not look EXACTLY like that person.
3. Understand that the texture of your hair may not be like the style on the model, Look at the models face shape, hair color and then compare it to yours , these factors due have an effect on the style you choose.
4. If you like to try a straight look and you have curly hair ....you may be shocked and not happy. Change is hard especially when you change hair color....Give yourself a couple of days to really adjust to the change then if you dont like it call the stylist and let them know. Don not go and color it yourself ...the mixture of professional color and over the counter color will not have a good out come.
5. If you are looking at a permanent wave, (They are coming back into style) Make sure you and the stylist know the exact curl you want. Oft times this is another disaster waiting to happen. Make sure the stylist knows if you have color, henna or the 80's sun-in peroxide in your hair , also medications do have an effect on whether the perm takes or not.
6. Make sure what ever style you choose that you are willing to spend the allotted time needed to achieve that look.
Happy New Look!!

This Subject will leave you scratching your head when we are done.:)
This Subject will leave you scratching your head when we are done.:)
We all know it is time for back to school and with the new year comes new and old challenges ,the starting of the routines of bedtimes, clothes, lunches, homework and so on. (You get the picture). One thing we don't plan for is getting a call from the school nurse telling us our child has lice. YES LICE!!!! Not a subject we wish to discuss on any level but necessary.
Often after we are done being in shock, the fear sets in and we think we need to shave our childs head. Not True.
Here are some facts you should know.
First off one of the biggest myths is lice like only dirty hair or people. Personal hygiene and the cleanliness of your home or school do not have anything to do with whether you get lice! Head lice are very contagious and typically spread through close contact with an affected individual or their personal items, such as a comb, hairbrush, or clothing.Lice likes to jump from one person to another.
A single adult is referred to as a louse, and lice eggs, which resemble dandruff flakes, are called nits. Head lice feed several times during a 24-hour period and cannot survive for more than a day or two without a blood meal. The primary symptom of a lice infestation is scalp itch, which can be mild to intense.
(Are you scratching you scalp yet?)
So how do we correct the situation? First , treat the hair with which that are recommend to commonly treat with medicated shampoos or lotions. These products are available over-the-counter or by prescription. Make sure you talk to your doctor before using one of these head lice treatments, especially on a child, as they contain insecticides and other chemicals that may be harmful to some people. Head lice treatment with these topical lotions and shampoos does not typically remove the nits, so it is recommend repeating the treatment in 9 or 10 days to kill any newly-hatched lice. Just like monkeys...some people nitpick, or use their fingernails to remove nits from hair shafts, but this is a tedious way to get rid of the eggs and just doesnt make sense to me.
I do have another solution that is all natural and takes the work out of the monkey routine. Use MAYONNAISE , Yes this works. The benefits are amazing -like the fact that the reason it works is the oil actually coats and chokes the adult lice and coats the eggs, allowing for the removal easier with the fine tooth comb. Apply the mayonnaise on the whole head and place a plastic cap on the head for 15 mins. allowing the mayo to condition the hair. Comb out the hair and then rinse the hair throughly. The mayonnaise also will leave the hair shiny and soft.
